About Deb Hamel
Deb Hamel uses her child-like creativity, sense of humour and imagination to write stories of her own nature, wildlife, archery and fishing learning experiences, but from the point of view of an inquisitive little girl. Her "DADDY'S HUNTING SERIES" contains seven books focusing on her property in Northern New Hampshire. "DADDY'S FISHING SERIES" contains four books based on Florida’s Nature Coast in the Gulf of America. “DADDY’S FARM SERIES” contains two books about grain farming in Illinois! One of which launched with a debut of #12 FARM LIFE on AMAZON’s Top 100 New Releases Children’s Books!
Hamel has shown an extraordinary passion to give of her time and talents, through public service, for over 40 years. She has earned an impeccable reputation as a Leader, Writer, Orator, Philanthropic volunteer, and a tenacious advocate for children.

She has served her Communities, States, and Nation in pivotal roles, such as: Vice President of New Hampshire State Board of Education; New Hampshire Commissioner on Education Commission of the States; Analyst, writer and campaign guru in the Political field - working with the likes of President George W. Mommie to a gorgeous grown son & a breathtaking grown daughter. Gigi "GLAMMAH" to two hysterical, perfect, rambunctious grandsons - whom she lovingly nicknamed ‘Bocce Ball & Bowen Arrow”. Counting her Blessings each day with the love of her life at their New Hampshire Lodge, their Upstate New York off-grid Cabin and whitetail propery, and their home on Florida's Gulf Coast.

Hamel’s “DADDY’S FISHING SERIES” debuted with three books in the Summer 2023!

They cover topics from archery, bears, raccoons, moose, and even antlers! One book is a beautiful lesson about foliage, and there is one about Daddy leaving early for a day of whitetail bowhunting.
You will feel good teaching your children using this series, and my books will touch your heart in a nostalgic warm way as well! Young children are like sponges soaking up learning easily, with an inquisitive nature, asking question after question …and Debber is that child!
DADDY’S HUNTING STORY
Hamel’s first book and the beginning of the Daddy’s Hunting Series, this story follows seven-year-old Debber as she describes a special day with her Daddy before he heads off hunting. Through her curious eyes, young readers discover the outdoors, wildlife, and the little details that make an ordinary day feel like an adventure. With patience, love, and plenty of questions, Debber and her Daddy share a heartwarming example of the special bond between a father and child.
DEBBER FINDS A DEER ANTLER
Eight-year-old Debber is thrilled when she discovers a deer antler in the woods surrounding her family’s northern New Hampshire hunting camp. Her Daddy teaches her about deer and moose antlers, and together they explore the woods searching for more while discovering the wonders of nature. That night, Debber’s dreams are filled with deer, moose, and her exciting antler discovery.
DEBBER & DADDY SAW SOME RACOONS
Little Debber and her Daddy explore the woods around their New Hampshire home, where he teaches her about native wildlife and plants. One day, they get a bird’s-eye view of a raccoon family, and Daddy explains their unique markings, behaviors, and clever ways of finding food and protecting themselves. Most of all, Debber discovers that raccoons love to eat—and will eat just about anything!
DADDY BOUGHT ME A BOW & SOME ARROWS
Soon-to-be eight-year-old Debber thinks her Daddy is the greatest and dreams of shooting a bow and arrow just like him. Daddy teaches her the basics of archery, including safety, stance, nocking an arrow, and drawing the bow, all in a fun and easy-to-understand way. Then, at her 8th birthday party, Debber discovers a special surprise that makes her archery dreams come true!
THE DAY WE SAW THE MOOSE
After a day of shopping in downtown Colebrook, New Hampshire, Debber and Daddy go home and get to work on clearing up debris from a recent storm. Working on the trails around the hunting camp, they hear the unmistakable sounds of a moose walking through the forest. Daddy teaches eight-year-old Debber all about moose and explains how large they (and their antlers) are. Debber is excited to learn that both of her Parents have seen moose. Mommy even saw one in Moose Alley, not too far from home on the way to Errol. She and Daddy plan an outing to Moose Alley, and along the way Daddy teaches Debber about respecting Nature. After the trip to Moose Alley, Debber dreams of a fashionable, friendly moose.
FALL AT CAMP
Debber and Daddy explore why the leaves change color and fall from the trees during the beautiful fall foliage season at their camp in New Hampshire’s Great North Woods. Through their fun and engaging conversation, young readers learn about nature and the changing seasons. Colorful illustrations bring the autumn adventure to life in a story children will want to read again and again.
THE DAY DADDY AND I SAW THE BLACK BEARS
Eight-year-old Debber loves exploring the woods around her family’s northern New Hampshire hunting camp, where her Daddy teaches her about wildlife, especially black bears. When Daddy takes her to the “treehouse” hunting tower, Debber gets an up-close look at a bear family and learns about their fascinating behaviors and hibernation. The experience stays with her, inspiring wonderful dreams about the secret lives of bears in their dens.
Daddy’s Farm Series
Hamel introduces her brand new third Series, “Daddy’s Farming Series” which debuted June 2024!! This Series is about grain farming in the Midwest — specifically southern Illinois.
The first book, DEBBER VISITS AN ILLINOIS GRAIN FARM launched with a debut on AMAZON Top 100 New Releases Children’s Books - #12 FARM LIFE!!!! It is about Debber visiting and learning about a fifth-generation grain farm. Based on an actual family and an actual visit.
The second book in this Series debut is entitled, DEBBER LEARNS ABOUT TRACTORS & FARM MACHINERY, with a wealth of vivid illustrations depicting combines, tractors, and implements involved in grain farming. Perhaps one of the most in-depth books of Hamel wherein she describes the tractors and farm machinery all children love to see — but here, they learn what they are about.
DEBBER VISITS AN ILLINOIS GRAIN FARM
Eight-year-old Debber loves learning about the places she visits, and on a trip to Illinois, she discovers a whole new kind of farming. At Kermicle Farms, Farmer Dave teaches her about growing and harvesting soybeans, corn, and wheat—and all the surprising ways these crops are used. Along the way, Debber meets cats, dogs, horses, and a little pink Princess bike she wishes she could take for a ride!

Eight-year-old Debber is amazed by the enormous tractors and farmland surrounding her family’s new property in Illinois.
